Suzanne writes: Since being at Bull Hill Farm, I have had the privilege of running Rodlease Stud for
Miss Avril Darnton. Up until the late 90’s the Stud had produced some very well known New Forest Ponies
including Rodlease Fiesta - a prolific winner both in hand and ridden for many years.
Luckington Ludo was the resident stallion up until his death at the age of 32 in 2002, remaining fertile until the very end.
Ludo himself was responsible for many performance ponies , in fact on one memorable occasion three of his progeny were representing the New Forest Pony Enthusiast’s Riding Club at the National Riding Club Show Jumping Championships.
Many of the Rodlease stock over the years have been exported abroad
and their names are often to the fore on the Dutch and Finnish New Forest Pony websites.
In this country we still have many direct descendants of Rodlease ponies doing extremely well in all disciplines includingPerrone Palaver (out of Rodlease Playtime) who qualified for the Horse of the Year Show 2003,
and Havenstreet Sweet Sensation (out of Rodlease Sweetheart) winning affiliated showjumping classes.
Upon our arrival here we have been able to bring the Rodlease name back into the limelight having had a few quiet years,
with a lovely filly foal Rodlease Jubilation. This chestnut filly – a grandaughter of Rodlease Fiesta - has really lived up to her name, winning prolifically as a foal with her dam Rodlease Minuet
and carrying on to win six out her eight classes as a yearling.
She has now developed in a lovely riding pony and you can follow her progress through the years usings the links above.
